3rd Annual Festival of Art - July 31
to August 7 at Utata
Art from the Battle Hill Maple Tree - For many years,
commuters travelling between Windsor and Halifax have been welcomed home by the
sight of a beautiful maple tree on the side of Battle Hill.
While for many, it was just one more tree along the highway, for
some it held a special significance.
The tree is now gone to make way for the twinning of the 101, but
not all of it will end up in the wood stove. Eight local woodworkers have pieces
of that tree in their possession and are creating works of art from it.
On July 31st, at the Hants County Festival of Art, those
pieces will be on display for seven days.
On the evening of August 7th, all of the art from the
Battle Hill Maple will be auctioned to the public. The net proceeds will be
divided between the Hants County Hospital Foundation and the Hants County Arts
Council.
For everyone who remembers the Battle Hill Maple Tree, this is a
chance to bring a part of it home, while supporting two worthy charities.

Festival of Art 2008
We wish to thank the great folks
at the Piziquid Aquatic Club again for helping to make our 2nd Annual Festival
of Art even better than our first.
This space is perfect for an art
exhibition, with a warm golden glow provided by the knotty pine walls
and plenty of natural lighting through the large windows.
Refreshments
again featured a delicious selection of fresh fruit & dips, plus wine and a
variety of cheeses for sampling.
Outside on the spacious
wrap-around deck, our visitors could enjoy waterfront activities at the Sam Slick Festival
and the sun setting over the historic Avon River. Here are a few candid photos from
the Opening on Friday evening; click for enlargements...
